A kitten stuck in a narrow pipe of a toilet drain was rescued by firefighters.

The feline moggy fell into the hole leading to the septic tank of a home in East Java, Indonesia, on August 24.

Footage shows the feline looking exhausted, with half of its body drenched in human waste.

The fire volunteers arrived at the property and used a long rod to extract the cat safely.

They cleaned the moggy with a towel and fed it afterwards before it was returned to its owners - a teenager and his younger sister.

A Banyuwangi Regency Fire and Rescue Service volunteer who helped in the operation said: ‘We continue to help everyone who is in need and not just during fire emergencies.

‘This includes floods, animals, pets, and evacuating wasp nests among others.'
