A kitten trapped inside a car engine was rescued by mechanics at a garage in Thailand.

The tabby cat was running away from a stray dog and hid under the sedan, where it crawled through the small hole, but it was stuck in Chai Nat province.

Footage shows the tiny grey and white cat looking scared as it was seen from the holes in the front bumper. With the help of repairmen, the car owner could pull it out safely.

Kanokkarn Sukkrom, who worked at the shop, said: ‘The customer took the car to us saying a cat was hiding inside. We were happy when we found a way to help it.'

Thailand, a largely Buddhist nation, believes that kindness towards animals should be encouraged, with temples sometimes being a safe refuge for stray cats, dogs, and even monkeys that don't have homes.
