Gaza Strip: Palestinian death toll in Gaza rises to 40,972

The Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 40,972, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Sunday.
During the past 24 hours, the Israeli military killed 33 Palestinians and wounded 145 others, bringing the total death toll to 40,972 and the injured to 94,761 since the outbreak of the latest round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in last October, the health authorities said.
Also on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that the Israeli army killed a number of Hamas militants, raided its infrastructure facilities and seized their weapons in its operations in Rafah.
The Israeli army also launched an airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza on the same day, leading to multiple Palestinian deaths.
Meanwhile, the civil defense department in Gaza said on the same day that Deputy Director of the Palestinian Civil Defense Mohammed Morsi and his four family members were killed in an Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza Strip. The airstrike targeted the home of the Morsi family in Jabalia refugee camp.
The department also said that since the outbreak of the conflict, 83 of its members had been killed by Israeli attacks, with more than 200 others injured.
The Israeli side has not yet responded to the claims.
Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023.
