STORYLINE:

Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park near Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, is one of the largest single-site solar parks in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model.

The fourth phase of the solar park, constructed by Shanghai Electric Group, started commercial operation in February this year.

"The 4th phase of the solar park adopts world-leading technology which combines solar thermal and solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation. The project also features the world's largest molten salt storage system, with a thermal storage capacity that supports power generation for up to 15 hours."

The fourth phase is expected to provide clean energy for around 320,000 residences and reduce 1.6 million tonnes of carbon emissions yearly.
