This is the moment a powerful tornado swept through a village in the Philippines.

CCTV footage shows freak winds suddenly blowing outside homes moments before a heavy downpour lashed through in Pampanga province on September 26.

The security camera shook and slipped off position due to strong gusts that battered the area.

No one was outside at the time except for a pet buffalo dipping in a muddy puddle. However, it was unhurt by the bad weather and was taken by the farmer afterwards.

Resident Joy Mariano said: ‘The tornado hit our neighbourhood, and my camera recorded our friend's water buffalo.'

A tornado is a powerful and violent rotating column of air that forms during severe thunderstorms. It extends from the cloud base to the ground, typically shaped like a funnel. Tornadoes can have wind speeds of more than 300 miles per hour, making them capable of causing significant destruction.
