Around 2 pm on October 1 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, a man accidentally fell into a river. His companion on the shore called for help and tried to rescue him by holding onto the railing but was unsuccessful. Fortunately, Shi Ranguo, a young man who was on duty at a nearby property office, heard the cries for help.

Without hesitation, Shi sprang into action. He shouted at the man in the water, urging him to stay calm and float to avoid sinking. Shi then climbed over a 3-meter-high wall on the opposite bank and leaped into the 3-metre-deep river to begin the rescue.

After a determined effort, Shi successfully brought the man to shore. During the rescue, Shi's foot was cut, but he didn’t notice the injury until after confirming the man was safe. Upon examination, his injury was found to be minor. Shi remarked: "Saving a life is more important, this small injury is nothing."
