A Chinese police officer rescued a drowning child from an icy river in northern China.

Filmed in Yanchang county, Shaanxi Province, the video showed a five-year-old boy who had slipped into the icy Yanhe River and was drowning.

Yang Bo, a police officer who was not on duty that day, crawled on his knees on the ice to save the child, without thinking.

The policeman suddenly fell into the river as the ice was too thin to hold him. The freezing water was immediately up to his waist. Finally, he managed to swim near to the child and save him.

It is reported that the boy's physical condition is stable and Yang Bo just has a cough after the incident.

The video was filmed on December 19 and provided by local media with permission.
