This is the moment a bride's furious family attacked her wedding in China due to a delay in the groom's dowry.

The groom, Huang, and the bride, Chen, held their wedding in Gu Dui Township, Huaibin County, Henan province, on October 1.

During the ceremony, a dispute arose when the bride's brother demanded 180,000 CNY (20,500 GBP) for the dowry.

The surprised groom, who had reportedly already transferred 30,000 CNY (3,400 GBP) to the bride's bank account, was taken aback by the request and told them to check that the payment had arrived.

However, the bride's family blocked the wedding car from leaving, believing they had not received the cash and suspecting trickery because it had not been paid directly.

Footage shows people blocking the wedding's car from leaving.

Such payments are usually paid in cash and the family of the bride suspected foul play and also may have been worried about the tax implications.

Police responded quickly and facilitated the bride's departure.

Following the incident, authorities admonished the bride's brother for his actions and mediated a resolution, with the groom agreeing to pay an additional 30,000 CNY (3,400 GBP) for the dowry, apparently to cover any extra charges they might have incurred.

The county held a meeting on October 6 to promote positive customs and prevent similar issues in the future.
