IndiGo plane hit by bomb threat seen at Mumbai Airport
An IndiGo plane hit by a bomb threat was seen in an isolation bay at Mumbai Airport.
The Boeing 777 was moved to a secure area for army bomb squad inspections on Thursday, October 17. Authorities confirmed that the threat was a hoax.
IndiGo said in a statement: 'Flight 6E 18, operating from Istanbul to Mumbai, received a security-related alert. The aircraft was isolated upon landing, and all passengers were safely disembarked.
'Ensuring the safety and security of our customers and crew remains paramount in all facets of our operations. We worked closely with the relevant authorities, and standard operating procedures were followed.'
Indian flights have recently been experiencing bomb threats on both international and domestic routes.
On October 14, three international flights from Mumbai were affected by similar threats, with one being diverted to Delhi.
The Home Ministry has requested detailed reports on the bomb threats from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu convened an emergency meeting with officials to tackle the ongoing situation.
The minister said: 'We are closely monitoring the situation and are committed to ensuring the highest security standards. Passenger safety is our top priority.'
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also directed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to remain vigilant at airports nationwide. Further guidelines and a comprehensive report on the investigation into the bomb scare are expected within the next two days.
