A clingy pet kitten climbed onto his owner's shoulder as she made dinner.

Footage shows the adopted moggy named Tappy scaling Nam's back by clawing the fabric of her mum's clothes in Laguna, the Philippines, on October 28.

Tappy perched on her right shoulder and watched the food boiling in a pot.

Nam said the feline would always do that when she cooks like a curious assistant chef.

She said: 'I rescued Tappy as a kitten, and every time I was in the kitchen, he would come to me to check what I was doing.

'He is like a curious assistant chef and almost like he is trying to help.'

The Philippines is one of the world's top countries in terms of cat ownership. A survey by Japanese tech firm Rakuten in 2021 found that 43 per cent of Filipinos own a feline, making it the second highest in cat ownership in Asia after Thailand.
