A large log flew off a truck into the front of a house seconds after residents entered.

Two men stood on the sidewalk right outside the property when the 5ft-long solid hardwood hurtled off a passing vehicle in Trang province, Thailand, on September 16.

CCTV footage shows the heavy object flinging on the spot on the sidewalk where the house owners had just been.

No one was hurt but resident Supannee Janjang said the driver seemed to have not noticed what happened.

He said: ‘I was very shocked. Fortunately, I wasn't right there when the log dropped.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
