This is the heroic moment helicopter rescuers save two men from the roof of a car that was nearly completely submerged by floodwaters on a bridge.

The incident occurred on the Sao Joao River, between Garuva, Santa Catarina, and Guaratuba, Parana, in Brazil, at around 1:30 pm on November 16.

The Fire Department reported that the vehicle was almost entirely engulfed by flood while crossing the bridge on the border between the two states.

The car was reportedly left dangling off the bridge, and the men climbed onto the roof.

Footage shows how the rescue helicopter approaches them, winches a rescuer down to their position with a basket, and airlifts them to safety, placing them in a nearby field.

Teams from the 7th Firefighters Battalion had also positioned themselves along the river to provide support if needed.

Local reports said no one was injured, and after being checked by medical professionals, the men were allowed to go home.
