This is the shocking moment a cobra and a python were found tussling beneath a woman's home.

The homeowner witnessed the 13ft (4m) king cobra fighting with the reticulated python, prompting her to call for help to remove the snakes in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, on November 24.

Footage shows the animal rescue team strategically capturing the reptiles using animal control poles and pulling them apart.

The snakes were then placed inside sacks and later released back into the wild.

The homeowner said: 'I was having dinner upstairs when I heard something fall onto the roof. I went outside and discovered the snakes coiled up together.'

Pythons are non-venomous constrictors that prey on rodents, birds, lizards, and mammals. They lack venomous fangs and consume their prey whole by swallowing them.

On the other hand, cobra venom contains neurotoxins that disrupt the nervous system by blocking nerve signal transmission to muscles. This leads to respiratory failure, suffocation, or cardiac arrest as the diaphragm and other muscles required for breathing become paralysed.

Depending on the species, cobra venom can cause death within 30 minutes to a few hours.

Snakes like king cobras and pythons can fight and eat each other because they both specialise in eating other snakes.
