Belgian motorist killed when motorcycle crashes into wall
A Belgian motorist was killed in a horror motorcycle crash in Thailand.
David Damme, 45, was driving through the Bang Lamung district of Pattaya when he skidded off a curve and smashed his two-wheeler near the gate of a housing estate early morning on November 29.
Police Captain Suphakit Kat-udom said police received a report at 5:36 am local time.
They arrived at the scene, where David was lying lifeless at the base of a concrete arch. His black-and-yellow Yamaha Aerox motorcycle was toppled over in the nearby bushes.
The officer said: ‘I have assigned rescuers to transport the body to Bang Lamung Hospital, where it will be stored until his relatives provide the necessary documents to retrieve it for the religious ceremony.
'We still don't know whether Damme is a resident or a tourist. This case has no other parties involved, and we don't know if he was drunk or not as the blood test results are not out. We are still investigating the cause.'
Security officer Theerakhan Thongkham, 33, said he was stationed at the guard booth when he heard the motorcycle screeching on the road.
He said: 'I didn't see it happen. I only heard the motorcycle skidding across the road. I rushed over and saw that the driver had been thrown from his bike. He had hit the concrete arch and was lying still on the ground.'
Last week, a Spanish couple were injured when their motorcycle slipped on a puddle of fuel in Nan province. David Zotico Bernaldez Mangas, 40, and Lucie Isabelle Marie, 37, were rushed to a hospital after crashing into the hillside.
