A freediver made a surprise marriage proposal to his girlfriend while swimming underwater.

Antonio Marinez, 27, took his partner Yssa Alber near coral reefs while exploring the ocean flood before pulling out a box of ring in Siquijor province, the Philippines on November 29.

Footage shows Antonio in matching black suit with Yssa as they glided in the water. He showed Yssa the jewelry, face to face as they drifted amid reefs.

Yssa held his hand and gestured a thumbs up sign to their videographer, implying she was saying yes to the proposal.

Diver and photographer Klyde Suico said: 'I was surprised too. He already told me that he would propose but he did not say when exactly.

'He also did not want to swim topless so he could hide the ring from his gifrlfirend.'
