Incredible fusion of 3D printing and wood carving developed in China
Footage shows the automated wood-carving machine creating an intricate sculpture of a woman using a fusion of 3D printing in China.
The machine elegantly sculpted every detail of a 'Chen Yu Luo Yan' piece – a classical Chinese beauty metaphor – in Fujian on July 25.
It started with a rough silhouette of the statue, which the machine chiseled with its mechanical arm, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.
The piece revealed a stunning model of a woman holding plants and posing shyly.
3D printing is a technology that can be used to create a variety of objects, including vehicles, aircraft parts, and historical artefacts.
Dr Hideo Kodama of Japan invented one of the first 3D printers, which used a photosensitive resin and UV light to create parts layer by layer.
The Cincinnati Museum Center used 3D printing to recreate a 4,000-square-foot model of downtown Cincinnati as it appeared in the 1940s.
