Elephant steals limes from back of pickup truck
A hungry elephant stopped a pickup truck to steal limes from the back.
The jumbo blocked the road and inspected the vehicle before finding the basket full of sour fruit in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, Thailand on December 21.
Footage shows the elephant helping itself to the limes stored on the truck's cargo bed.
It used its trunk to pick them up and stuff them into its mouth, enjoying the treat.
The driver from Phufawaree Farm said: 'Our lime trees give out hundreds of fruit, so it is okay to share it with the elephant. We take care of our trees, fertilise them well, and they give back a hundred times.'
Aside from limes, the farm's main harvest is durians, but the truck was not carrying some when the elephant stopped them.
Thailand has up to 3,500 elephants in the wild. The population has been increasing in recent years, but it is still a fraction of the estimated 300,000 wild elephants that lived in the country at the beginning of the 20th century.
The main threats to wild elephants in Thailand are habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and conflict with humans.
