A quick-thinking mother saved her son who fell into a garden pond.

Dafu, the two-year-old boy, was playing on the edge of the pool when he accidentally plunged into the water in Bangkok, Thailand, on December 4.

CCTV footage shows the child using a pool cleaning net and trying to pick up a floating ball.

However, the toddler lost his balance and tumbled into the water headfirst.

Upon noticing her son was drowning, the mother immediately grabbed his foot and pulled him out of the water.

He cried loudly after being rescued from the near-death experience.

The child reportedly did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said that drowning is the fourth leading cause of death for children aged 1–4 years and the third leading cause of death for children aged 5–14 years.
