Firemen shows how to remove a python from a car engine
Firemen demonstrated how to remove an aggressive python from a car engine.
Staff organised the training session to show new recruits how to tackle the common hazard in Thailand.
Footage shows an officer carefully aiming for the 13ft (2m) pregnant snake's neck, but it lunged at him and tried to bite his hand
He made a second attempt, which was successful, and they carried the heavy reptile off the vehicle in Bangkok, on March 14.
The trainer said: 'It was a training session for new firefighters who would assist us in snake-related operations.
'This included removing snakes from under hoods of cars, which is a common hiding spot for them, especially during colder months when they seek warmth.'
They trained with a pregnant python that was protective as it is due to lay eggs.
He added: 'They were not supposed to handle the snake, but I changed my mind and let them help with carrying it off the car.
'It was an opportunity to gain experience in dealing with real-life situations.'
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
