A giant python was found resting inside a car engine at a garage in India.

Footage shows forest department officers removing the 7ft reptile from the vehicle parked for maintenance in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

The mechanic was shocked to encounter the massive serpent when he lifted the bonnet of the Mahindra Scorpio SUV. The garage owner immediately reported the incident to 112 and notified the authorities.

Reptile handler skillfully controlled the snake, with one holding its head and another grasping its tail to lift it safely.

The animal was placed inside a gunny bag for transport and relocated to its natural habitat - sparking cheers from locals who gathered to watch.

Pythons are among the world's largest snakes known for their constricting abilities. They are non-venomous and typically subdue their prey by wrapping around and squeezing it. These snakes can prey on a variety of animals, including humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats, and other snakes.
