A groom hilariously ducked under his bride's veil, flopping the ceremonial first kiss at their wedding.

Ian Jay Eturma, 27, tied the knot with now-wife Antonette, 24, where he amused church guests when he joined her under the sheer see-through silk headpiece in Cebu, the Philippines, on December 7.

Footage shows Ian Jay holding the veil but instead of pulling it up off Antonette's face, he went under it with her.

He soon realised the mistake when their friends and families laughed before he lifted it off and the couple kissed at the Catholic ceremony.

Bride Antonette said: 'I asked him why did that and he told me he had no idea because it was his first time at a wedding. He was so cute.'

Filipinos often prefer church weddings due to cultural, religious, and traditional reasons that hold deep significance. The Philippines is predominantly Catholic, and church weddings are seen as a sacred union blessed by God.
