Temporary tents have been set up in the public areas of the northern Gaza Strip as part of efforts to accommodate the displaced Palestinians returning from the south.
SOUNDBITE (Arabic): MOHAMMED ABUL RAHIM, Gazan resident
"We are setting up tents for those displaced to the south who will return in the coming days so that they have places to live, as their houses are not suitable for living in. This is the least we can do for our people returning from the south."
The recently-reached Gaza ceasefire-for-hostage release deal allows approximately one million displaced residents from southern Gaza to return northward.
The United Nations estimates that more than 50 million tonnes of rubble need to be removed in Gaza at a cost of around 1.2 billion U.S. dollars.
Clearing rubble in Gaza could take three to five years if sufficient funding and equipment are available.
