Basketball players have mass brawl on court in the Philippines
Basketball players had a mass brawl on the court during a local league game in the Philippines.
The teams in red and green jerseys were in the last quarter of the match when fighting erupted between two players in South Cotabato on February 1.
Footage shows their teammates causing chaos as they piled into the scrap, attacking each other with punches and kicks.
They were immediately controlled by game organisers while shocked spectators remained in their seats, screaming as tension rose.
No one was hurt seriously but the game was called off due to the violent altercation.
Local Cristine Araquil said: 'The game was starting to get tense because there was only a few seconds left and then the fight started.'
Basketball was introduced to the Philippines by American teachers in the early 1900s during the American colonial period. It quickly became a favourite sport and has remained ingrained in the country's culture ever since.
