Record-Breaking Snow Paralyzes Hokkaido, 370 Schools Closed as Obihiro Sees 1.2m of Snowfall
Northern Japan, particularly Hokkaido, is grappling with a record-breaking snowfall, causing major disruptions to traffic and air travel. The city of Obihiro was hit with an astonishing 1.2 meters (4 feet) of snow in just 12 hours, leaving the region in a state of chaos. Around 370 schools were also closed on Tuesday due to the extreme weather.
Footage captured by @Photo_ka_zu highlights the overwhelming intensity of the snowstorm. The user, reflecting on the situation, shared their amazement: "Before I moved to Obihiro, I used to wake up in Saitama and make a fuss about finding 2cm of snow... When I woke up in the morning there was 120cm of snow, that's crazy lol." The extraordinary snowfall has left many in awe of its scale and impact.
