In a disturbing incident caught on camera, an elderly man was targeted by chain snatchers right outside his home in Delhi’s Pul Pehladpur area.

The CCTV footage, dated May 28th, shows the elderly victim sitting on a chair when two youths approach him under the pretext of asking a question. As the man leans forward, one of the suspects suddenly snatches his chain and flees.

Startlingly, the same assailant returns moments later, possibly in an attempt to rob him further. But seeing people rushing in from the other side, he quickly escapes the scene once again.

The aggressive assault caused the elderly man to fall off his chair. His belongings were scattered on the ground, and his clothes were torn during the struggle. He lay on the ground, visibly shaken and struggling to get up, until nearby residents came to his aid.

The brazen attack occurred in broad daylight, once again raising questions about the safety of citizens in India’s capital, where such crimes have become alarmingly frequent.

As of now, it's unclear whether a formal police complaint has been lodged.

Authorities have yet to confirm if the suspects have been identified or arrested.
