A trapped cat was rescued from inside a cupboard by drilling holes in the bottom shelf.

The pet moggy named Mengern had been missing for three days when pet owner Nahathai Sornprasarn heard meowing sounds from under the floorboards of their newly constructed cabinet in Lopburi province, Thailand.

Footage shows Nahathai's relative using a power tool to make an opening on the built-in furniture. They used a phone and a flashlight to look inside the dark space.

They confirmed Mengern was trapped under and lured out before she was safely pulled out. Nahathai said their feline was unknowingly stuck inside when it hid from the loud noise of the construction.

Nahathai said: ‘Mengern did not want to come near at first being tired and hungry. So we asked my mum to be the one to call, and the cat immediately climbed out.'
