A stray kitten that had fallen through the ceiling coving of a family's home was rescued and adopted.

Footage shows the moggy being extracted from a tiny hole in the cornice in Selangor, Malaysia.

The feline's tail appeared first as it softly cried for help before a Good Samaritan gently pulled it free.

Kids and adults in the house cheered when the tabby was successfully pulled out on May 31.

Resident Honey said: ‘The children were playing in the living room when they heard the sounds.

‘We all looked for it and saw it moving from the corner.'

The family named the kitty Oreo for its white and black patterns, and it would now live with them.
