Chimpanzee calmly offers arm for blood test at Shanghai wildlife park
On 15th February, Shanghai Wildlife Park conducted a blood sampling procedure to assess the health of its chimpanzees.
During the process, one chimpanzee demonstrated remarkable cooperation. It calmly extended its arm through a glass window and remained completely unfazed as the needle was inserted into its vein, showing no resistance. The staff were able to complete the procedure with ease.
According to the park, the chimpanzee’s cooperation was the result of prior training sessions where it was given treats as a reward for participating in simulated blood tests. Over time, it developed the habit of willingly cooperating with the procedure.
