An angry wild elephant attacking a car was caught on a dashcam in Malaysia.

Truck driver Haniee Bin Shukri was travelling along the Lebuhraya Timur-Barat Highway when the enraged calf emerged.

The orange sedan can be seen stopped still - with the driver frozen with fear - while the animal charged and repeatedly rammed the car with its head.

Moments later, the driver of the vehicle accelerated on the highway to prevent another hit on the car's hood.

The animal then walked off the motorway and headed back into the forest, allowing other vehicles to pass freely.

No one was reportedly hurt in the incident on February 11 at 1:40 pm.

Elephants may feel threatened by humans or other animals and attack to protect themselves or their herd.

Malaysia is believed to have between 1,200 and 1,700 elephants living in the wild.
