United States - February 17, 2025 A dramatic rescue unfolded on Friday at Wildcat Lake when a dog fell through thin ice and found itself struggling in the cold waters. Captured on a sheriff’s deputy’s body cam, the footage recorded the dog’s desperate yelps as it swam in distress. A neighbor had attempted to reach the animal in a small boat but was unable to break through the ice. Deputy Chad Miller arrived minutes later, armed with quick thinking and teamwork. After handing the neighbor a shovel to break the ice, Miller used an oar to row through the frigid waters and reach the dog. The animal was too heavy to lift, so the neighbor secured it with a rope, and as Miller rowed backwards, the dog was carefully pulled alongside the boat. Once safely on shore, a crew from Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue assisted in getting both the dog and rescuers to safety, warming up after the tense ordeal.
