Bus crashes into ravine killing five passengers and injuring 40 others in India
A bus crashed into a ravine killing five passengers and injuring dozens more in India.
The bus reportedly crashed into a truck and was sent veering off a 10ft bridge in Punjab, on February 18.
Footage shows locals and rescue teams trying to rescue passengers trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
Authorities said at least five people were killed and more than 40, including two children, were injured. The wounded were taken to the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Hospital in Faridkot City for treatment.
India has one of the highest rates of road accidents in the world, with thousands of fatalities and injuries reported each year.
The poor track record is blamed on unsafe road conditions, reckless driving, inadequate enforcement of traffic laws, and a lack of awareness about road safety.
