SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): CHEN JIANFEI, Chairman of the Charity Association of Chinese in Botswana
"Faced with the devastating floods in Botswana, we immediately convened an emergency meeting overnight. We quickly decided to offer assistance. So we are here today to hand over the supplies. After all, we all belong to a big community. We are donating our supplies to people in need. This is something we must do."
Botswana's Minister of International Relations Phenyo Butale and Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Nelson Ramaotwana accepted the donation and expressed their thanks to the Chinese community.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): OMPHEMETSE, Flood victim
"We came here on the 19th of this month because then we had the flood at that site. Everything was destroyed. So the organization of the Chinese (community) donated for us the blankets, the mattresses, the food and clothes. So we are happy, and in this heart-breaking situation, it showed that they are with us."
