This is the dramatic moment a biker stopped his ride to rescue a monkey from freezing water after it fell in.

The cyclist spotted the struggling Tibetan macaque desperately trying to swim toward the riverbank in Sichuan, China, on February 21.

Upon seeing this, the kindhearted man climbed over a roadside barrier to help the distressed primate.

Bodycam footage shows him using a long tree branch to break the icy surface, clearing a path for the monkey to reach him.

He then carefully lifted the shivering animal and placed it on a rocky patch under the sun to dry off.

However, as he set it down, the weakened macaque accidentally rolled down the slope.

The concerned man rushed to check on it, only to realise it had fallen unconscious.

The biker said: 'The monkey was very weak. Before we left, we made sure it was okay, but there wasn't much else we could do. We placed it next to a bush away from the water, so it could recuperate.'
