Multiple vehicles were trapped in devastating mudslides in California.

A powerful storm triggered the rapid downhill movement of mud and debris, engulfing a roadway on Soboba Road near Chabela Drive in San Jacinto on Thursday, March 13, around 6:06 am.

Dramatic footage shows cars partially buried in mud, leaving terrified occupants inside.

Officials said the swift water rescue team helped six individuals out of their vehicles. They were evaluated by paramedics at the scene and later released without serious injuries.

Soboba Road was shut down in the area as road crews worked to remove the mudflow and clear the vehicles from the roadway.

Authorities reported that the storm also caused a rare tornado, damaging homes and cars in Pico Rivera.
