An elderly vendor selling doughnuts on the beach has become a hit with tourists - for her hilarious sales call.

Khun Kae, 73, takes her deep-fried coconut milk pastry rolled into sugar on a basket and sits by the shore while whistling notes to attract tourists at Koh Lipe Island in Satun province.

Footage shows Khun Kae slumped in the sand with two containers while singing.

She said: 'Ten baht, ten baht, ten baht, ten baht, ten baht. Coconut, donut. Yoohoo, yoohoo.'

As she sings her wacky made-up song, holidaymakers flock over to buy her homemade treats. Locals have even dubbed her 'Madame Yoohoo'

Beachgoer Jiraporn said: 'If you want to eat some doughnuts, you can come to the islands and find Madame Yoohoo.'

The seller was nicknamed Madame Yoohoo due to her song. Visitors easily know how much each piece costs as she shouts out the price to them.

Khun Kae's doughnuts cost ten baht (0.23 GBP) and come with waxed paper to easily enjoy them while exploring the island.

A stallholder's cry to passing shoppers was called a 'Costermonger's Cry' in the markets of East London in the 19th century. In some markets, it is called 'calling out' or 'hawking'.
