A loyal pet dog swam alongside his owner's boat while they sold food to tourists.

The black Aspin pooch named Kalooy joined an elderly woman peddling snacks and drinks to island hoppers in the middle of the sea in Batangas, the Philippines.

Footage shows Kalooy floating in the water while waiting for his owner to return to the wooden boat on March 11.

Kalooy acted as the boat's guard and stayed near the vendor's boat which was paddled across the area with a long stick.

Tourist John Patrick Balagas said: 'Kaloyy is an extra-ordinary dog with genuine love for his owner.

'The dog never leaves her and stays very close. He is a smart companion dog.'

In the Philippines, dogs are popular as both pets and guard animals. Many families keep dogs for companionship, security, and even as part of their daily lives.
