Firemen rescued a puppy trapped in a garden gate in Brazil.

The mischievous black pooch was removed by firefighters after getting stuck between the railings of the barricade in Aparecida de Goiânia, Goiás, on March 18.

The pet owners discovered their dog wedged between the bars while attempting to sneak out of the compound. Unable to free it, they called the fire department for assistance.

Footage shows the rescuers using a car jack to carefully pry apart the bars, easing the trapped pup through the gap. The animal, seemingly unfazed, wagged its tail as one of the officers held it.

The puppy was safely freed and was reportedly unharmed.

A fire service spokesperson said: 'In situations like this it is always best to call the professionals.

'If you get it wrong, the animal can become distressed and aggressive and struggles which can injure them and comprise their health.'
