China to expand agricultural insurance to better support farmers (Voice_over) China's National Financial Regulatory Administration has announced plans to expand agriculture insurance support this year aiming to help farmers better manage risk. Full-cost insurance has already been rolled out for the three main grain crops-rice, corn and wheat, with the highest level of protection at about 80 percent of the corresponding grain output value. A farmer in Dezhou City of eastern China's Shandong Province, has already made use of the insurance. Last year, when 20 of his 80 hectares of land suffered reduced grain production due to bad weather, he was compensated. After conducting an on-site assessment, they paid us around 5,500 U.S. dollars in policy-based insurance."
