US, Phoenix: Phoenix 2 Vehicles vs Bicyclist Fatal Hit and Run

Phoenix, United States - March 28, 2025 03/28/2025 11:15 pm (GMT-0700) PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle collision at the intersection of 91st Avenue and Highland Avenue Friday night. Upon arrival, officers and firefighters found an unresponsive female bicyclist with obvious signs of injury in the northbound lanes of 91st Avenue. Fire department personnel pronounced the woman deceased at the scene. Per the Phoenix police sergeant at the scene, the woman was crossing the roadway on a bicycle when struck by a white sedan. The Phoenix PD determined that the vehicle had fled the scene. The vehicle was later identified as a newer white Nissan sedan. Approximately one hour later, officers located the hit-and-run vehicle in a business plaza parking lot near Camelback Road and the Loop 101 after receiving information that the driver had called in and admitted to being involved in the collision. According to the Phoenix PD, while detectives were processing the scene, they determined that a second vehicle was involved in the collision. The vehicle also fled and remains outstanding. A press release by PPD Sergeant Phil Krynsky stated that the woman driving the first vehicle showed signs of impairment. A search warrant was obtained to collect a blood sample. She was later released pending the outcome of the investigation. A hard closure was established for 91st Avenue, stretching between Camelback Road and Highland Avenue. Phoenix Police Vehicular Crimes Unit detectives are handling the ongoing investigation.
