Hero passerby stops 'drunk local from attacking female tourist' in Phuket
A hero motorcycle rider dashed from the road to the pavement to save a female tourist from a drunk local who was attacking her.
The motorist was caught in red light traffic when he spotted a middle-aged man approaching a foreigner and grabbing her hair.
Dashcam footage shows the Good Samaritan, with a helmet on, running towards the violent man to stop him from beating a helpless woman.
He pushed the attacker away from the woman, who fell on the ground before threatening him to leave on April 4.
An onlooker said: 'He suddenly pulled her by the head and beat her until she fell to the ground next to parked motorcycles.'
Other passersby rushed to help the tourist stand up, checking on her if she was hurt.
The motorcycle rider continued to make the drunk local leave the area.
Though not seriously hurt, the tourist stood up, limping to pick up her shoes.
Phuket is Thailand's largest island. The region has seen a boom in tourism since visa restrictions were lifted last year to revive the struggling economy. The island saw 800,000 foreign visitors last year alone.
