US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Double Shooting Leaves 1 Dead

Bakersfield, United States - April 05, 2025 04/05/2025 11:00 pm (GMT-0700) BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – An investigation is underway following an apparent double shooting in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Wible Road near Wood Lane around 11:00 p.m. Saturday. According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, arriving deputies located two adult female victims of a shooting. One was deceased at the scene, and the other was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Homicide detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Initial information from the scene indicated the deceased victim appeared to be inside a black car. Multiple crime scene markers were placed at the location. A witness at the scene told KNN they heard multiple gunshots and saw two men fleeing east down Wood Lane with firearms. The Kern County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation, and the motive remains unknown at this time. In an Advisory Message late Monday morning, the KCSO identified the deceased victim, who was shot by another at the location, as 26-year-old Jessica Lorraine Arevalos of Lompoc, California. Next of kin had been notified. There was no mention of a suspect in the Advisory.
