US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves 1 Injured On Latina Drive
Bakersfield, United States - December 29, 2025 12/29/2025 02:18 am GMT-0800 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – An armed man was shot by a Bakersfield police officer after a foot pursuit and a struggle early Monday morning. The incident began around 2:15 a.m. when two Bakersfield Police Department officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Mohawk Street at Siena Lane, according to the BPD. The vehicle eventually stopped at Latina Drive and Pisa Way, where an occupant of the car fled on foot eastbound on Latina Drive. A BPD officer caught up to the male suspect, and a struggle ensued. The suspect pointed a handgun at the officer, who fired his weapon, incapacitating the suspect, according to the BPD. The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Witnesses reported hearing sirens and a commotion, followed by officers yelling at the suspect to "get down before you get shot." The verbal command was followed by the sound of multiple gunshots, with witnesses counting nine shots fired. The investigation is ongoing and in the preliminary stages.
