This is the dramatic moment an officer collapsed from heat exhaustion at a police station in Thailand.

Police Lieutenant Tawee Pathumchai, 55, was manning the desk when he suddenly fainted from the blistering heat reaching 36C in Yasothon, on April 9.

CCTV footage shows the policeman appearing dazed before staggering backward and falling on his back. Other shocked cops rushed to his aid and called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.

Doctors at the Loeng Nok Tha Crown Prince Hospital said Tawee's condition has been stabilised after suffering from heat stroke. He is now out of danger and recovering.

Tawee's wife said: 'My husband has always suffered from high blood pressure, for which he takes medication. It was particularly hot that day, and the heat probably caused him to collapse. The doctor advised him to rest for another night, and he would be discharged on Friday.'

The Thai Meteorological Agency today warned of extreme heat due to a low-pressure system and prevailing southwesterly and southerly winds affecting the country.
