This is the amusing moment a turtle hides in the sand with only its eyes and snout poking through.

Footage shows the reptile buried in the grains of sand in its enclosure at a sea turtle park in Mie Prefecture, Japan, on January 17.

Turtles are solitary creatures, often seen alone in the sand or swimming. While they spend much of their time basking and foraging by themselves, they do tolerate the presence of other turtles in their environment.

The sea turtle park houses a conservation facility that works to protect, release, and breed injured sea turtles in the wild.
