Locals carry entire marquee as rain hits Easter gathering
Devotees carried an entire marquee over their heads as rain poured during an Easter procession.
Footage shows the locals walking in unison beneath the makeshift shelter, determined to keep the religious images and participants dry in Pampanga, the Philippines.
The crowd occupied one lane while making their way through the soaked street.
In the middle of the residents was a carriage with Jesus Christ statue on a cross.
They were followed by a Virgin Mary's image behind with a blue umbrella over her.
Resident Shane Santos said: 'While we were on a procession during Good Friday, heavy rain suddenly poured and all the carriages were soaked.
Some had a brilliant idea to cover themselves and the entire procession with plastic, staying completely dry.
'I was so fascinated and amazed by what I saw that I recorded a video.'
The strong Christian faith in the Philippines, particularly Roman Catholicism, is due to the country's more than 300-year history of Spanish expansion.
