A touching incident occurred on the railway track in the operational area of KAI Divre II West Sumatra. A K2 (Station Cleaning) officer from Divre II West Sumatra showed heroic action when he managed to save an alleged ODGJ (Person with Mental Disorders) who almost died from trying to commit suicide on the Lubuk Buaya railway track.

The incident occurred on Thursday, April 24, 2025 when an alleged ODGJ tried to block the B24 Minangkabau Ekspres train on the Pulau Aie - BIM route at the end of the platform and the B4 Pariaman Ekspres train on the Paulima-Naras route at the Lubuk Buaya Shelter. It was observed that the ODGJ was allegedly walking beside the lower platform with a blank look and did not respond when called. When the B4 Pariaman Ekspres train entered, the alleged ODGJ immediately ran towards the middle of the track. At that time, the K2 Officer from Divre II West Sumatra, Diva Siswanto, had been monitoring the person concerned from the platform. Without wasting time, Diva immediately ran over and managed to pull the victim away just moments before the train passed. This quick action managed to save the life of the suspected ODGJ.

Head of Public Relations of KAI Divre II Sumbar, Reza Shahab, expressed his appreciation for the alertness of the officers. "Safety is our top priority, not only for passengers but also for the community around the track, we are proud to have personnel who not only carry out their duties responsibly, but also have high concern for the safety of others," he said.

This action is a reminder that the role of train officers is not only to maintain train operations, but also to be the vanguard in protecting lives.
