Residents were evacuated as a wildfire spread across South Korea.

The massive blaze erupted on Monday, April 28, prompting officials to relocate more than 1,200 people as strong winds fueled the flames.

Dramatic footage shows a firefighting helicopter battling the fire while thick plumes of smoke rise from the area.

Authorities said the wildfire in Daegu began around 2 pm and had scorched an estimated 50 hectares in under two hours.

Approximately 26 helicopters and 202 firefighting personnel were dispatched to the scene, and a portion of the Gyeongbu Expressway was temporarily shut down.

No casualties have been reported. An investigation is underway.
