MYSTIC, Conn. — Mystic Aquarium recently offered a behind-the-scenes look at a routine health exam on one of its cownose rays, highlighting the detailed care provided to its marine residents.

During the procedure, the ray is anesthetized while aquarium teams conduct a thorough assessment. This includes drawing blood, taking measurements, recording weight, performing an ultrasound to examine internal organs, and conducting an external visual inspection.

The exam is part of the aquarium’s commitment to high standards of animal care and health monitoring.
