Seven soldiers hang from helicopter while being lifted in military drill
Seven soldiers were seen hanging from a helicopter as they were lifted during a military drill.
The troops were part of a special patrol insertion and extraction (SPIE) training mission conducted near Marine Corps Air Station New River on May 8.
US Marines from the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion teamed up with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269 for the intense drill.
Officials said that the training aimed to sharpen the squadron's skills in assault support operations.
The SPIE technique enables the rapid extraction of military personnel from areas where a helicopter cannot safely land.
Footage shows the suspended soldiers soaring through the air as the helicopter lifts them to safety.
This high-risk manoeuvre is used in challenging terrain or combat zones.
