Los Angeles, United States - May 30, 2025 05/29/2025 11:45 pm GMT-0700 EXPOSITION PARK, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest units responded to an assault with a deadly weapon report Thursday morning at a 7-Eleven located at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Figueroa Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported being threatened by a man wielding a knife. The suspect was believed to have fled the scene on foot, heading south on Figueroa Street. Officers subsequently located the man hiding in a nearby homeless camp. When officers attempted to detain him, the man fled on foot, running from behind a McDonald's and down to the intersection of 41st Street and Flower Street. Officers deployed a 40mm less-lethal round, but it proved ineffective. They also attempted to use a taser, which had no impact on the suspect. Eventually, the man sat down and dropped the knife, at which point officers were able to take him into custody. The Los Angeles Fire Department was requested to the scene due to the taser deployment. The man was transported to an area hospital in stable condition and appeared to be under the influence at the time of the incident.
